The House Playbook is operated by Dan Gold. This policy explains what information is involved when you use this website and how you can contact me about it.

Information you give me

When newsletter signup is available, you provide your first name and email address. The form submits those details to Kit, my email service provider. If your subscription is completed, I use them to manage your subscription and send the emails you requested. Kit processes subscriber information on my behalf. You can unsubscribe using the link in an email or contact me to ask about your subscription.

If you use the contact form, you provide your name, email address, and message. The form submits these details to Netlify, the service configured to handle this site’s contact form, where I can review them. I use them to respond and handle your request. Please do not send sensitive personal information through the newsletter or contact form.

Browser storage and site activity

Interactive checklists and some tools save your selections or progress in your browser's local storage. Those saved choices stay on your device; the site code does not send them to me. You can clear them using a tool's reset control, where available, or your browser's site-data settings.

The website code does not currently include a dedicated analytics or advertising pixel. The service hosting the site may process standard request information, such as your IP address, browser details, pages requested, and request times, to deliver and protect the site. I cannot describe its exact log retention from the website code alone.

Other services and links

Fonts and decorative styling are served from this site. Articles may include embedded videos from YouTube or TikTok. Those providers may receive information about your visit and may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies. Some tools request outside data: for example, the appliance energy cost tool sends a ZIP code you enter to Zippopotam.us to identify a location. I do not use that ZIP code to identify you.

If you follow a shopping, affiliate, social-sharing, or other external link, the destination may collect information and use its own cookies or tracking. Amazon and other retailers handle purchases on their own sites; I do not receive your payment details. An affiliate program may report a qualifying purchase to me.

How long I keep information

I keep newsletter details while your subscription is active and as needed to honor an unsubscribe request or meet applicable obligations. I keep correspondence as needed to respond and maintain a record of the exchange. Browser-stored checklist and tool progress remains until you clear it or your browser removes it. Third-party providers may have different retention periods.

Your choices and questions

You can unsubscribe from emails, clear your browser's site data, and use your browser's settings to manage cookies. You can also choose not to use embedded videos or external links. To ask about access, correction, or deletion of information I hold, use the contact form. I will respond in line with applicable law. I do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13.

I may update this policy when the website or its services change. The date above shows the latest revision.
