Refresh Your Mattress
Refresh bedding and a mattress using its care instructions, avoid excess moisture, and investigate persistent odors.
Start with the mattress care label. Baking soda and essential oils are not universally approved, and a deodorizing treatment cannot solve a wet or mold-damaged mattress.
Refresh without saturating
- Remove bedding and launder the sheets, protector, and removable cover only as their labels allow.
- Air the mattress in a dry, ventilated room. Avoid direct heat and soaking.
- Vacuum the surface only if the mattress maker permits it, using the recommended attachment and gentle setting.
- Spot-clean only with the permitted product and amount of moisture. Blot rather than scrub and let it dry completely.
- Refit dry covers and bedding. Rotate or flip only if the model is designed for it; many mattresses should not be flipped.
Check the result
Check odor and dampness before remaking the bed. Persistent odor, visible growth, or a history of flooding needs advice from the manufacturer or a qualified cleaning professional; fragranced powder can mask the problem.
Do not add essential oils to the surface. If a maker explicitly permits a powder treatment, follow its removal instructions and ensure your vacuum is suitable for fine powder.
